There are all kinds of “can’t believe it’s true” things that I love about ABC…
- magnificent sanctuary
- great beach church family
- heartfelt worship with a chorus of waves
- preaching in shorts with sand between my toes
But maybe my most favorite thing about each Sunday morning summer service is the privilege of receiving prayer before we start from my father. He also wraps the service up with a profound benediction. In a culture by and large without roots, I am beyond grateful for the faithfulness of both my father and my mother. They’ve not missed one of our services!
Remember that old Dan Fogelberg song from the early ’80’s?
“My life has been a poor attempt to imitate the man
I’m just a living legacy to the leader of the band”
This is our next to the last weekend for the 2017 season. We would love for you to join us Sunday at 9am on the 30th street beach in Avalon. Bring your beach chair, some Wawa coffee and a whole carload of family and friends.
All season long we have focused on the theme: “A Summer of 3:16.” We’ve gone 15 weeks already, and I have not yet preached on John 3:16! Well, this is the week…it’s the Gospel in miniature and I am pretty pumped about preaching from it. Can’t wait for the Word and the sand between my toes.
P.S. Dad, “Your song is in my soul!”
